QVINTOS Design

MEP design in the model you already have.

Design building services in the IFC model, discipline by discipline, with calculations and a drawing set from the same run. Sprinkler is in use today; the other disciplines can be tried in a pilot.

The problem

Layout, calculations and drawings are often produced in separate steps.

  1. One discipline, one file

Building services are often modelled in separate files, and conflicts between them surface late.

  2. Calculations beside the model

Sizing is often done in a separate tool and copied back, so the drawing and the calculation can drift apart.

  3. Figures that are hard to trace

A value on a sheet can be hard to trace back to the rule and the model element behind it.

QVINTOS Design works in the IFC model itself. Placement, calculation and the drawing set come from the same run, and each placed object carries its source.

The workflow

Eight steps, one question at a time.

Each step in the studio asks one question, with the plan and the 3D view side by side. Every discipline uses the same steps; its own steps sit between the rulebook and the checks.

Capabilities

Seven modules, one model.

Model preparation makes the model ready; each discipline then designs into the same IFC model and hands it on.

Deliverables

Drawing sheets you can hand over for review.

Plans per storey with title block and legend, calculation appendices and schematics, written from the same run as the model.

  • Produced in SwedishThe sheets follow the Swedish review process, whatever language you use the platform in.
  • A proposal until reviewedEvery sheet is marked as a proposal until a qualified engineer has reviewed it.
  • Open formatsPDF for review, DXF for CAD, the IFC model with the design in it, and BCF issues.

Traceability

How you can check the result.

Design results are proposals for a qualified engineer to review. These are the mechanisms that make that review possible.

  1. 01

    The engine calculates

Every value comes from the calculation engine. The AI explains and sorts the results; it is never the source of a dimension.

  2. 02

    Source on every object

Each object QVINTOS places carries its source and status in the IFC model, so it can be traced in your own tools.

  3. 03

    Same input, same result

Reference tests that block a release check that the same input gives the same calculated result.

  4. 04

    Flagged, not smoothed

A result that rests on a rule with low certainty is marked to be checked by a qualified engineer. Sheets stay proposals until reviewed.

Integrations and outputs

What goes in, what comes out.

In

  • IFCThe building model, up to 120 MB. MEP design requires IFC4.
  • RevitRevit models come in through IFC export.

Out

  • PDFDrawing sheets and calculations, in Swedish
  • DXFDrawings for CAD
  • IFCThe model with the design in it
  • BCFIssues for your coordination tool

QVINTOS Design reads the IFC model. It does not design from PDF or DWG drawings.
